When does Love Island 2023 start? Date, cast rumours and what we know so far

Love Island fans don’t have long to wait for the new summer series, as it is set to kick off in a matter of weeks.

Maya will make her return as host presiding over all of the Villa action, after replacing former host Laura Whitmore during the last season of the show.

The new series will once again be accompanied by its Sunday show Aftersun, as well as the official Love Island podcast.

It comes mere months after Love Island’s winter series came to an end, with Sanam Harrinanan and Kai Fagan crowned winners.

So, as Love Island fans begin counting down to the return to the villa, here is everything we know so far about the summer series.

Who is in the cast of Love Island 2023?

Love Island bosses are yet to officially unveil the lineup for its 2023 summer series, but rumours are already swirling around who could be taking part.

Among those reported to have been approached is Alison Hammond’s son Aiden, 18, with a source revealing ‘producers know that contestants with a famous parent are a huge hit.’

However, a source close to the mother and son duo though have revealed that while ‘Alison was flattered, Aiden has turned down the offer.’

It was also reported that theatre star Molly Marsh was in talks with bosses to take part in the show, with her mother Janet a previous star of Coronation Street and Still Open All Hours.

MailOnline also previously revealed earlier this month that hunky economics graduate and clothing brand entrepreneur Andre Furtado has been lined up for the upcoming season.

Are there any changes?

Bosses have announced that stars of this year’s summer series will be banned from any social media activity as they unveiled their latest duty of care policy.

Bosses trialled the new policy during their winter series earlier this year, with stars banned from having loved ones update their social media profiles while in the villa, in a bid to reduce trolling.

And in their latest policy bosses have confirmed they’ll be keeping this new rule in place.

Stars will also complete video training on topics including mutually respectful behaviour in relationships, controlling and coercive behaviour and language around disability, sexuality, race and ethnicity, and microaggressions.

It comes after the last series was hit by hundreds of Ofcom complaints over ‘toxic’ behaviour from the female stars, with exchanges leaving their male co-stars in tears.

They still remain together while couples including Samie Elishi and Tom Clare and Casey O’Gorman and Rosie Seabrook split shortly after the series ended.

Last year, Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and boyfriend Davide Sanclimenti won the show, beating finalists Gemma Owen and Luca Bish to the £50,000 prize.
