A vintage steam engine has crashed into a house and left a gaping hole in the side of the building.
The crash happened on Friday in Great Dunmow, Essex, after the ‘Southern Queen’ steam traction engine, built in 1913, ‘suddenly’ accelerated and collided into the home.
A witness claimed the driver was left in a ‘state of shock’ and the crash had done ‘significant’ damage to the property.
No one was said to be injured and the house was cordoned off by police and the fire service with people told to avoid the area.
Another witness claimed the engine was ‘having issues’ and they saw ‘steam and smoke’ coming out the bottom of the vehicle.

Social media users were quick to make jokes about the crash after a picture of it was posted to Facebook.
One said: ‘I thought Dunmow would have had petrol cars by now…’
Another added: ‘You can’t park there mate’.
And another quipped: ‘Must have been a slow crash! No life flashing past in a blink. More like played out in slow motion!’
