Urgent recall issued for baby teething toys sold across Australia over fears they can cause choking or suffocation
An urgent alert has been issued for a set of popular teething toys amid fears babies and small children could choke or suffocate on them.
Product Safety Australia has issued a nationwide recall of The Evolved Parent Co’s The Chew Box silicone teething toys, which come in animal, fruit and sea shapes.
‘The products do not comply with the size and shape requirements of the mandatory safety standard for toys for children up to and including 36 months of age,’ the recall alert states.
‘The length of the teethers may pose a choking or suffocation hazard for young children.’
The teething toys are sold in various baby supply and gift stores across Australia.
Affected products were on store shelves for almost two years from February 2020 up until a few weeks ago.
They have one of three barcode numbers- 682863332704, 682863332711 or 860002718729.
Parents are urged to return purchased products to Mr Indeva Pty Ltd for a refund.
