Tottenham are continuing negotiations with Genoa to sign Romanian defender Radu Dragusin this week.

There has been rival interest shown by Napoli and Bayern Munich to a lesser degree but discussions with Spurs are still on track.

Genoa want around £26million for Dragusin, with Spurs understood to have made a verbal proposal of around £21m.

Talks are ongoing on Monday as the 21-year-old hopes to join up with Spurs by the end of the week.

Dragusin joined Genoa permanently in the summer having spent last season on loan from Juventus, helping them win promotion back to the top-flight.

This season, he has played 21 times in all competitions and scored two goals. He has previously drawn comparisons to the former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic.

Spurs are looking to bring in a centre-back after Cristian Romero was ruled out for an extended period with a hamstring problem.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have also been checking on Leeds United’s Archie Gray and Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White with the summer window in mind.

It came as Spurs accelerated talks to sign the former Chelsea forward Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig.

Although Werner, 27, had interest from other Premier League clubs, he quickly agreed to join Spurs as he likes Postecoglou’s style of football.

Spurs have agreed to pay his salary of around £4.5m for the remainder of the season and will have an option to buy Werner for £15m.
