Tom Felton was saved by Kelly Slater following his collapse at the Ryder Cup celebrity tournament


Tom Felton was saved by surfing icon Kelly Slater after collapsing at the Ryder Cup celebrity tournament in Wisconsin last Thursday. 

Kelly, 46, who is considered the greatest professional surfer of all time, rushed to the actor’s aid and placed him in the recovery position. 

The 11-time world champion competed on the rival US team and was on the 18th hole when the Harry Potter star, 34, collapsed.

A source revealed to The Sun: ‘Everyone was stunned and taken aback but what cameras didn’t see is that Kelly jumped straight into action.

‘He ran over to Tom and immediately put him in the recovery position well before medics were on the scene.

‘He then stayed with him keeping him calm keeping him as safe as possible.’

On Monday, Tom said he’s ‘feeling better by the day’.

He left fans worried after suffering the medical emergency at the Whistling Straits Golf Course in Sheboygan.  

Taking to Instagram to relieve his concerned followers, Tom said: ‘I am on the mend officially, in case you were worried.’

Tom said in full: ‘Hello everyone, ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, just wanted to say a huge thank you for all the lovely well wishes as of… a scary episode really.

‘People have been taking really good care of me so thank you very much to anyone who has sent messages of get well soon, because I am on the mend officially, in case you were worried. 

‘Thank you so much for your help, I’m on the road to recovery. Time to go watch some Ryder Cup action.’    

It is still unclear what caused the Apparition actor to collapse.

At the time of his medical emergency, Tom was taking part in a celebrity golf tournament as a part of this year’s Ryder Cup, and had been playing with former NHL star Teemu Selänne, 1980 US Olympic hockey team captain Mike Eurzione, and retired speed skater Dan Jansen.

Singer Derek Pitts took to Instagram Friday to give an update on the condition of his famous friend, posting a picture of Tom smiling in the sunshine and looking remarkably healthy after his health scare at the tournament.  

‘He’s okay ❤ speedy recovery brother,’ the caption read.

The actor – who rose to fame as Draco Malfoy in the beloved Harry Potter fantasy films – drew gasps from spectators at the Wisconsin event when he suddenly collapsed and was stretchered off the course at the 18th hole.

Tom was subsequently carried off on a stretcher and carted off on the back of a buggy to receive medical attention – leaving fans rightfully concerned and desperate for an update on the star’s condition.

These concerns were put somewhat at ease after Derek’s post Friday morning, with one thankful supporter welcoming the good news, gushing on Twitter: ‘I’m so so so happy now ❤ thank god ❤.’

The image quickly spread across social media, thanks to several fan accounts dedicated to the popular actor.

Felton’s frightening fall came while he was representing Europe in a six-a-side celebrity golf tournament at the Ryder Cup. 

The competition has become a popular preamble for the true tournament, where professional golfers duke it out every two years, either in the US or UK.

Onlookers gave the actor a warm round of applause when he was carted off the course Thursday to receive further treatment – the day after his 34th birthday.

Following the incident, the PGA of America disclosed that Felton had experienced a ‘medical incident’ and was sent to a ‘local hospital for treatment.’
