A two-year old toddler has died at a childcare centre, with police believing the death may be ‘not suspicious’.

Paramedics were called to the Little Gems Childcare and Early Learning Centre in Maryborough, in Queensland’s Fraser Coast region, on Wednesday afternoon after the boy suddenly died.

Queensland Police told Daily Mail Australia the death is not being treated as suspicious, meaning no foul play is suspected.

‘‘Queensland Police are investigating the sudden death of a toddler in Maryborough yesterday afternoon,’ a spokesperson said. 

‘Preliminary investigations indicates the death is not suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.’ 

It is understood the centre was closed on Wednesday afternoon with the children sent home early.

The centre will remain shut on Thursday.
