I’m the one in red with the white beard! Thousands take to the streets of London and Glasgow for annual Santa Run

  • In Glasgow some 7,000 Santas ran through the streets to raise money for charity
  • The Santa Dash has been held in the city since 2006 raising thousands of pounds
  • As many as 4,000 runners are thought to have taken part in London

Thousands of runners have taken to the streets in Glasgow and London to take part in the annual Christmas Santa dash through the two cities.

A wave of red was seen at Victoria Park in London as Father Christmases turned out to prove they were ‘Fitter Christmases’, with as many as 4,000 taking part in a 5K or 10K run.

The jolly joggers were even more bountiful in Glasgow, where the 5K Santa Dash has been held since 2006, raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for charities working in and around the city.

Some 7,000 Santas were thought to have pulled on their trainers for the good causes in Scotland. The Santa Dash has raised more than £350,000 for various charities there.

Along with traditional Santa costumes, some runners opted to dress as other festive figures, with participants also dressing as reindeer and snowmen.

Participants of all ages took part, with a few dogs joining in the fun.
