The View’s Ana Navarro is called out for ‘disrespecting’ Muslim culture – after whining about having to go barefoot on ‘yucky’ Mosque floor and wear a ‘musty, drab scarf’ to cover her head during trip to Istanbul

The View fans have urged Ana Navarro to ‘be respectful’ of other cultures after she appeared to moan about going barefoot during a visit to a mosque.

Ana, 51, and her husband Al Cárdenas are currently enjoying a holiday in Turkey and decided to have a tourist day on Wednesday when they headed to Istanbul.

The Nicaraguan-American star took to Instagram and share two photos of herself inside a mosque in Galataport, where she posed for pictures with her hands on her hips and told her followers she wished she had ‘worn socks’.

Ana didn’t seem overly impressed at having to remove her shoes and described the carpet as ‘yuck’ and claimed the scarf she was given to cover up her hair was ‘musty and drab’.

Some people were quick to comment on the post as one person reminded Ana that she was ‘a guest in others home’ while someone else told her to ‘be respectful of the local cultural norms’.

In the first photo, Ana flashed some flesh in a patterned off-the-shoulder maxi dress which featured batwing sleeves and a tie waist.

Ana accessorized her look with a white straw hat and a couple of bangles and stuck one foot prominently out in front of her.

In the second snap, the TV star had removed her hat and replaced it with a khaki green scarf wrapped around head in order to cover up her brunette hair and her shoulders.

Ana posed for the picture alongside her 75-year-old husband Al, who was dressed in dark pants and a white short-sleeved polo shirt and a matching wide-brimmed hat.

The post was accompanied by a lengthy caption, which said: ‘I did touristy stuff today. Don’t ask me why I look like I only have one foot and that one foot looks so gynormous. I’m a very decent size 8 (sic).’

Ana continued: ‘Ok, here are a few tips. When going into a Mosque, like Hagia Sophia or the Blue Mosque, you need to remove your shoes and cover your hair and shoulders and you can’t wear shorts/mini-skirts, etc.’

She then said: ‘I wish I’d worn socks. Walking barefoot on a carpet where millions walk is a little yuck to me. You should wear clothes that meet the requirements because the alternative is wearing some poncho thing you buy there or a musty, drab, olive scarf they lend you to cover your hair.

‘They are opening their doors. It’s their country. Their norms. Their beliefs. We are guests here and need to be respectful and comply. That being said, the architectural, historical, cultural and religious significance, are worth going there. You really can’t come to Istanbul and not visit these sights,’ Ana added.

Ana’s 734,000 followers were quick to comment on the post as one person said: ‘I agree wholeheartedly Ana!! Go forth and travel y’all. Get out of the USA, but be Respectful! Remember you’re a guest in others home…act accordingly. #travelislife #explore #bekind.’

Another person told her: ‘I love your dress!!! And I agree on being respectful of the local cultural norms. When I was visiting the Vatican, I covered up. It’s just what you do.

A third person commented: ‘I never wear shoes in my house either and I keep booties at the door for anyone coming in. If you knew what you picked up on the bottom of your shoes you would never wear shoes in the house! You are looking very appropriate to be in a mosque!’

A fourth wrote: ‘You are gorgeous no matter what you wear. Who needs shoes anyway,’ and a fifth simply added: ‘You both look great.’

The post comes just a couple of days after Ana flaunted her incredible weight loss in a pair of skintight white jeans during a night out in Bodrum.

On Monday, she revealed that she and Al had enjoyed a dinner date with the US Ambassador to Turkey, Jeff Flake, and his wife Cheryl.

Ana glammed up for the occasion and showed off her slimmer figure in a pair of white bootcut jeans, which highlighted her slender waist.

She teamed them with a black off-the-shoulder top and gold wedge sandals before accessorizing with a pair of large hoop earrings.

Ana wore her dark hair slicked back as she cozied up to Al, who was also dressed in white pants and a matching linen shirt.

The first image showed them posing next to Jeff and his wife, and the next shot was of just Ana and Al with a stunning sunset in the background.

The TV star also gave fans a glimpse of what they’d been up to earlier on in the day and posted a picture of Al relaxing on a cabana, and one of her bare feet as she sunbathed in front of the water.

Ana captioned the post: ‘What a way to end a relaxing day of swimming and lounging. We watched a beautiful sunset, sharing a meal with the US Ambassador to #Turkey and his wife, Cheryl.

‘They happened to be in Bodrum representing our country at an @amcham_turkey event. Thank you, @jeffflake & Cheryl for the great conversation & tutorial on bilateral relations and the important geopolitical projects @abdbuyukelciligi is working on. It was fascinating,’ Ana added.
