The Morning Show host Larry Emdur is left baffled as Dylan Alcott’s sexologist girlfriend refers to women as ‘vulva owners’: ‘Sorry, did you say Volvo?’
The Morning Show host Larry Emdur was left shocked on Tuesday when celebrity sexologist Chantelle Otten described women as ‘vulva owners’.
Terms like ‘vulva owners’ and ‘people who menstruate’ are sometimes used to refer to biological women by those trying to be more inclusive in their language.
They believe saying ‘woman’ isn’t always accurate because some women – namely transgender women – have penises instead of vaginas and do not menstruate.
Emdur, 58, clearly wasn’t up to date with the progressive lingo, as he thought Otten, 31, said ‘Volvo owners’, which resulted in an awkward live TV moment.
He was scolded by his co-host Kylie Gillies for not understanding what Otten, the girlfriend of former Australian of the Year Dylan Alcott, was trying to say.

When Otten described herself as a ‘femme person’ and ‘a vulva owner’ during a discussion about sexual pain, Emdur looked suddenly baffled.
‘Did this turn into a car segment?’ he asked.
Gillies, 55, who appeared to see the gaffe coming a mile away, immediately said: ‘I knew you would mishear that.’
When Otten clarified she was talking about the female anatomy, she took a dig at Emdur and asked if he even knew what a vulva was.
Emdur continued with the joke, asking, ‘Are we talking about having sex in cars now?’

He added there are ‘lots of airbags’ in Volvos.
The awkwardness didn’t end there: when the Channel Seven hosts went on to promote Otten’s new podcast, Emdur couldn’t resist making one final joke.
‘This segment is proudly brought to you by Volvo, Wheels Car Magazine’s car of the year five times running!’ he said.
‘You can listen to the podcast in your Volvo if you want to,’ added Gillies as Otten could barely contain her laughter.
Otten is the girlfriend of former Australian of the Year and disability advocate Dylan Alcott
