The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare FIRST LOOK: Henry Cavill stars in gripping trailer for Guy Ritchie’s WWII drama which tells true story of secret Nazi-fighting group

The first trailer of Guy Ritchie’s WWII drama The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare was released on Tuesday.

Henry Cavill, 40, stars in the film as Gus March-Phillips, with the movie telling the true story of a rogue group who fought the Nazis.

The plot is inspired by the British War Department’s recently declassified documents which contained information about a secret group of military officials formed by the late Prime Minister Winston Churchill.

Guy Ritchie, 55, directed Paramount Pictures’ big-screen adaptation of Damien Lewis’ 2015 book, and ousted Superman star Henry plays the leader of the secret combat organisation.

The movie is set during World War II and will be centred on a clandestine combat organisation set up by Winston Churchill and Ian Fleming. Freddie Fox plays Ian Fleming, the author of the James Bond novels, who was a member of the secret combat unit.

A synopsis reads: ‘The top-secret combat unit, composed of a motley crew of rogues and mavericks, goes on a daring mission against the Nazis using entirely unconventional and utterly “ungentlemanly” fighting techniques.

‘Ultimately their audacious approach changed the course of the war and laid the foundation for the British SAS and modern Black Ops warfare.’

As the trailer opens, Henry’s character Gus is heard saying: ‘We both know I’m not very popular with the administration.

‘If I am to do this I’ll need my own team. You won’t like them, they’re all mad.’

Cary Elwes’ character tells him: ‘They’ll need to be.’

As the unit is seen unleashing terror its enemy, Gus is heard saying: ‘This is an unsanctioned, unauthorised mission.

‘If we fail, England will be condemned to a lifetime under the German boot.

The film stars the likes of Eiza Gonzalez, Alex Pettyfer, Henry Golding and Babs Olusanmokun.
