Matty then repeats the Irish name and tells her: ‘What? It sounds like something you move gravel with’.

Although Dervla saw the funny side to the exchange as she delightedly shared it on Twitter, some people insisted they thought his reaction was uncalled for.

Some highlighted Matty’s ‘British’ sense of humour, and said: ‘Needlessly overreacting to an ethnic Irish name for a cheap laugh is definitely is British humour but it’s not the defence you think it is.’

However one person replied in defence of Matty and suggested it was typical of the star, writing: ‘You obviously don’t know much about Matty Healy.’

But another found in inexcusable, and wrote: ‘Oh wow that’s nice. I’d be devastated if someone was that rude to me that I obviously was a fan of.’
