Sydney Swans have defied the odds to defeat reigning premiers Melbourne without superstar forward Buddy Franklin in a landmark victory for the club.
Franklin copped a one-week suspension after striking Richmond star Trent Cotchin during their dramatic victory at the Sydney Cricket Ground, giving the travelling side a sizeable task as they travelled to Melbourne.
However, the Swans stifled Max Gawn, Christian Petracca and Co, kicking two last gasp goals to seal a 73-61 victory in a morale-boosting win for John Longmire’s side.
For the Demons, it was their second defeat in as many weeks, having lost to top four contenders Fremantle last time out.
