A passenger on the Spirit of Tasmania has reportedly died after falling overboard.
The man’s body was recovered from the water off Geelong around 8.50pm.
Crew had earlier told other passengers he had been safely retrieved, according to 7NEWS.
It is understood the ship turned around shortly after 8pm while bound for Tasmania, as a search for the missing passenger and a headcount was conducted onboard.
The death is not being treated as suspicious. The ship is now returning to the port.

One passenger revealed on social media: ‘After trying crew were not able to revive him so we are heading back to Geelong to take him off the boat, very sad.’
A spokesperson for Victoria Police said: ‘Police will prepare a report for the Coroner after a man’s body was recovered from waters off Geelong about 8.50pm on Sunday 30 April.
‘The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious.’
