‘I think they have a thing going on’: Rod Stewart jokes about wife’s crush on Prince Charles ahead of rocker’s Jubilee performance
Rod Stewart has joked that his wife Penny Lancaster has a ‘thing going on’ with Prince Charles as the rocker detailed his wife’s crush on the royal.
During the bizarre BBC Breakfast interview the legendary rocker, 77, also said the Queen is like a sister to him, ahead of his performance at the Jubilee concert on Saturday.
Speaking to Naga Munchetty from his luxurious London home he said: ‘She [Her Majesty] has been so much a part of my life she’s almost like a sister, she has always been in the background’.

Talk turned to his wife’s ‘crush’ on the Prince of Wales, when Rod told Naga he expects Prince Charles may be one of the first royals to get up and dance during his Platinum Jubilee show on Saturday.
Rod will be performing two songs at the star-studded concert alongside the likes of Diana Ross, Elton John and Queen.
‘I love him, and my wife absolutely adores him,’ Rod told Naga of Prince Charles.

When Naga asked why Penny ‘adores’ him, Rod joked: ‘I think they’ve got a thing going on!’
Rod laughed with embarrassment as Naga teased: ‘You know I’m going to keep that in the edit!’
The presenter asked what Penny’s reaction will be, to which Rod confirmed: ‘She’s going to die of embarrassment.’
‘I wish I was dead right now,’ he joked as he started getting out of his chair. ‘Alright, I’m going home.’
The star spoke about one of the occasions he met the platinum serving monarch claiming she was ‘terrified’.
‘They [Her Majesty and the late Duke of Edinburgh] thought I was going to sing Do You Think I’m Sexy, Hot Legs, really loud music, and I started off ‘You must remember this a kiss is just a kiss….’ they were so relieved they beamed from ear to ear.
