New Orleans Saints star Chris Olave appeared to use his NFL status to his advantage during his arrest Monday night.
Olave, 23, was arrested on suspicion of reckless operation of a motor vehicle in Kenner, Louisiana on Monday night.
In a statement, police in Kenner – located about 15 miles west of New Orleans – allege that Olave was driving 35 mph above the posted 35 mph speed limit (70mph).
Kenner police department has now released the footage of the incident captured by the arresting officer’s body camera.
The officer could be seen placing the wide receiver in handcuffs, informing him that they had clocked him driving at 70mph in a 35mph zone in his Dodge Charger.

Olave seemed to show some sign of remorse at being told he had been going at double the speed limit, saying: ‘That’s on me. I was just trying to get home.’
However, any sign of remorse vanished the moment he was informed he was being placed under arrest.
He appeared to try and get some leeway by using his NFL occupation, telling the office: ‘My bad, dawg. I play for the Saints, man.’
His plea had the opposite of the desire effect, however, as the officer appeared far from impressed, responding: ‘And?’
He did not resist arrest and was cooperative with law enforcement, according to multiple media outlets.
Olave reportedly was expected to be processed and released from jail Monday night.
The Saints have not yet released a statement regarding this arrest – or if there’s any punishment within the team the receiver could face.
Olave is in his second season in the NFL after being drafted with the eleventh-overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Ohio State.
