Ree Drummond’s foster son Jamar Goff shares a heartfelt message for his foster dad

Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond’s foster son Jamar Goff took to Instagram over the weekend to share a birthday message for his foster father, Ladd Drummond.

Goff, 20, who was taken in by the Drummond’s in 2018, shared a photo of him with Ree, 54, and Ladd, 54, when he signed his letter of intent to play football for the University of Central Oklahoma, taken in February 2021.

He thanked his dad for taking him under his wing and for all of the things he’s taught him since living with Ladd and Ree, who has a new TV project with her sister.

‘I’ve been blessed with the best father figure I could possibly ask for. The smartest, strongest, most dedicated, and devoted man I know,’ Goff began.

‘You’ve taught me more things than you know and you’re still teaching me,’ Goff added.

‘Thank you for everything you’ve done and everything you’re doing, I couldn’t be more grateful for the man I get to call “dad.” Happy Birthday!! Don’t work too hard,’ Goff concluded.

Ree and Ladd welcomed Jared in 2018, though prolific blogger Ree didn’t share anything about Jamal until 2020, when she published an excerpt from her book Frontier Follies on her blog The Pioneer Woman.

She began by stating she hadn’t revealed much about Jamal because, ‘the state agency that handles fostering has strict rules against posting about foster children on social media, which I get.’

‘But mostly, and this is slightly related, I feel protective of Jamar and have always wanted his story to be his own and not fodder for my social media, which is often riddled with silly videos of my Basset hounds running toward the camera in slow motion,’ she added.

She also said she wanted to give him time to adjust to the family, but added in the November 2020 post that he was certainly now, ‘an inextricable part of our wacky family.’

She added that he had recently turned 18 and now the state agency restrictions do not apply, adding she never planned on fostering a child, but Jamar was a different story.

‘Fostering a kid was never something Ladd and I pursued or felt called to do, but Jamar’s circumstances presented themselves to us in a way we couldn’t ignore,’ she began.

‘So, long story short, all six foot five inches of him showed up at our house one afternoon, bag in hand, ready to move in. Ladd, who had the initial idea to have Jamar live with us, had met him a couple of times during high school football practice that summer,’ she continued.

Ree added that her sons also knew him but she, ‘on the other hand, had never officially met Jamar before that day.’

Drummond also made her acting debut in the 2021 Discovery Plus Christmas movie Candy Coated Christmas.
