Rebel Wilson shows off her incredible 35kg weight loss in a chic pink dress

Rebel Wilson turned heads when she stepped out in New York City on Thursday evening.

The Aussie actress, who has shed more than 35kg (77lbs or 5.5st) in the last 18 months, looked absolutely stunning in an incredibly chic pink dress.

The 42-year-old showed off her slender midsection by cinching the frock in at the waist with a matching Valentino candy-coloured belt.

Pretty in pink! Rebel Wilson showed off her incredible 35kg weight loss in a chic candy-coloured dress as she stepped out in New York on Thursday evening

She added another pop of colour with her yellow Louis Vuitton handbag and boosted her height with some beige pointed-toe stilettos.

Rebel wore her golden locks in a chic half-up half-down style and she matched her makeup to her dress by wearing a pinkish palette.

The sighting comes after Rebel denied she lost weight using the Mayr Method diet plan.

Rebel’s weight loss has been widely attributed to the strategies developed by Austrian physician Dr Franz Xaver Mayr.

However, she distanced herself from the Mayr Method in a statement on Instagram last month, telling her 10.6 million followers: ‘This was never my diet.’

The Mayr Method eliminates certain foods, reduces sugar and also encourages certain eating practices such as chewing food thoroughly.

People magazine was the first publication to report Rebel had lost weight with the Mayr Method, citing a ‘source’ close to the actress.

The article, published in June 2020, claimed Rebel had seen ‘amazing results’ since adopting the method during her stay at the VivaMayr wellness centre in Austria.

This information has since been repeated countless times by other news outlets, with food website Mashed publishing an article last month stating she followed the diet and listing her corresponding day on a plate.

But Rebel did not correct the record until Monday April 18 when Daily Mail Australia ran a story about her dramatic slimdown, citing the Mashed report.

In her Instagram statement, the Pitch Perfect star also warned fans about diet pill scams using her image without permission.

While Rebel has denied following the Mayr Method diet, she did spend time in 2020 at a wellness centre that uses Dr Mayr’s techniques, which is perhaps where the confusion arose.

She documented her stay on Instagram, posting in December that year: ‘Thank you to Dr Schubert and all of the team @vivamayraltaussee in beautiful Austria.

‘I’m going to start 2021 in an amazing place, with a healthy body and mind… and boosted immune system!

‘Love the care you all put into your patients – I am so grateful! Now on to maintaining the weight loss and the healthy lifestyle!’

The VivaMayr Altaussee wellness centre in Austria, where Rebel stayed, costs $5,097 for a week while a two-week program can cost up to $9,500.

According to the centre’s website, ‘the Vivamayr Weight Care program is aimed at optimising your weight and consists of a fixed and variable part’.

Rebel has also attributed her weight loss to daily walks.

She told Apple Fitness+ in January that walking, rather than high-intensity workouts, had actually been her secret weapon for weight loss.

Rebel said a doctor at a health retreat had advised her to take up the light exercise, insisting it was the ‘best way’ for her to shed the kilos.

‘The doctor said to me, “Rebel, the best way for you to lose unwanted body fat is just simply walking,”‘ she explained.

‘Doesn’t have to be high-intensity, doesn’t have to be uphill, just moderate walking an hour a day. And if you can do that, for you, for your body type, it’s, like, the best way to lose unwanted body fat.’

To keep her walks interesting, Rebel said she often listens to podcasts.
