Prince’s entire music catalog now available on TikTok after the late icon’s estate vows inspire a ‘new generation’ of fans

Prince’s entire song catalog has been added to the popular video-sharing app TikTok, under a deal with the late music icon’s estate.  

The late Purple Rain hitmaker’s estate adviser, Troy Carter, explained the decision was influenced by the seven-time Grammy winner’s longtime history of ‘breaking boundaries.’  

‘It is our hope that a new generation of global fans can find meaning in Prince’s music, and be inspired to create,’ Carter in a statement, obtained by Variety.

‘We are massive fans of Prince and admirers of his cultural legacy,’ TikTok’s Brandon Holman added of the partnership.   

Additionally, TikTok features an official Prince TikTok account, which is owned by his estate. 

So far, the account has eleven videos, which contain archival footage of Prince performances, interviews and video excerpts from his remarkable career.

Holman pointed out users will be inspired to ‘to connect with his music in creative and unexpected ways’ with ‘fresh ears.’  

Among the song selections are his massive hits Controversy, 1999, Let’s Go Crazy, and “Adore. 

On Monday, TikToka is hosting a special livestream tour of Paisley Park, Prince’s famous home at 12 p.m. PT.

Earlier this month, Prince’s Instagram shared an image of a handwritten note that Prince kept in his own personal archives on what would’ve been his 62nd birthday. 

The hand written note read, ‘Nothing more ugly in the whole wide world than INTOLERANCE (between) Black, white, red, yellow, boy or girl.’

Prince (born Prince Rogers Nelson) passed away in April 2016 at his Paisley Park estate in Chanhassen, Minnesota.

Two posthumous albums have been released, Piano and a Microphone 1983 in 2018 and Originals in 2019.
