Mystery surrounds the brutal bashing of a young man left for dead on the front lawn of a suburban home as cops race to track down the killer

  • Lee White, 24, was found dead on the lawn of a property in High Wycombe, Perth
  • He was brutally bashed before being left for dead outside the suburban home
  • Police are now hunting for the 24-year-old’s killer and believe he was targeted

A man was brutally bashed and dumped on the front lawn of a suburban home in a gruesome attack that’s left detectives hunting for the killer baffled.

Lee White, 24, was found dead on the lawn of a home in High Wycombe in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

He is believed to have been assaulted before a mystery caller raised the alarm with paramedics they saw a man ‘collapse’.

When police reached the scene, they found Mr White dead and are now searching for his killer.

CCTV footage appears to show two figures dragging something onto the lawn some time before police were called.

They believe the 24-year-old was targeted and forensic officers were seen searching a public phone box and a rubbish bin.

A house across the road from where Mr White was found is also being searched by police, though no arrests have yet been made.

Pastor Wazza Harvey, who knew Mr White, took to Facebook to confirm the young man’s death and pay tribute.

‘So many people are asking me questions. I’ve been hesitant in mentioning names out of respect for Lee’s family,’ he said.

‘I will now confirm that the man found on the lawn in High Wycombe was Lee White.

‘God only knows of Lee’s final destination… but I do take comfort in Lee’s more recent FB (Facebook) post: ”God qualifies the called, He doesn’t call the qualified” – Lee White.’

Shalom House founder Peter Lyndon-James told the West Australian that Mr White had been involved with the rehabilitation facility in 2018 for more than a year.

‘It’s a shock to all of us, he did extremely well at Shalom House … all of us are in shock,’ he said.

‘He was an absolutely beautiful fella.’

Rev Harvey added: ‘Many people have prayed and had hoped for his life to be fully turned to the Lord.

‘Please pray for his grieving family. Please pray for your friends that continue to relapse and dabble or stay connected to the ‘scene’.

‘That they fully turn to the Lord and stop looking back to the world.

‘Many do recover and become restored through the saving grace and power of the Lord Jesus Christ but the living reality is some don’t make it.’

Homicide squad Det-Sen. Sgt Michael Fogell said on Tuesday that investigators believe this man’s injuries are a result of an assault and that other people would have been involved.

‘The information I have at this point is that St John Ambulance was called about a male collapsed on the front lawn and attended and located the male, examined him and then found him deceased,’ he said.

‘We’d seek to speak to that person (who made the call) … obviously they know something because they called police, and we’d like to speak to them as a matter of urgency,’ he said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police immediately.
