‘It’ll be like me and you’: Paul Gallen calls out Sonny Bill Williams AGAIN amid Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte debate… and insists bout between former rugby league starts ‘has to happen in the near future’

  • Paul Gallen called out Sonny Bill Williams again while on Nine on Friday
  • Former New South Wales great wants to fight two-time Rugby World Cup winner
  • Williams knocked out former AFL star Barry Hall in just 115 seconds in March
  • Gallen has a 12-1-1 record since starting his boxing career

Cronulla great Paul Gallen has once again called out former All Blacks legend Sonny Bill Williams to end a decade-long discussion and agree to step into the ring for a NRL fan-fuelled mega-fight.

The duo were on set for Nine’s Bulldogs v Rabbitohs Good Friday Pre-game analysis and when promoting the upcoming heavyweight fight between Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte, Gallen couldn’t resist a cheeky dig at his colleague.

While discussing the height differential between Fury and Whyte, the former Sharks captain compared William’s stature to his own.

‘He [Whyte] is obviously a lot shorter than Tyson Fury,’ Gallen said.

‘It’ll be an interesting fight. A bit like you and me mate, the height – shorter. Maybe we should make it happen one day what do you reckon?’

Williams replied ‘We’ll see’, with Gallen laughing off the slander.

Turning 41 in August, Gallen says he is capable of beating Williams but time is running out.

‘I take one fight at a time and see what fight is available and how much money is on the table,’ the former New South Wales star said.

‘Sonny Bill is the only guy we have ever said we wanted and it has escalated from there. We’ll see what happens.

‘I’m hoping we can do it. I’m ready to do it. It has to happen in the near future.’

The proposed former Rugby League stars ‘mega-fight’ is reportedly worth $4 million, as pay-per views are predicted to surpass 100,000.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Gallen has contacted Williams’ camp to end a decade-long tease and set about negotiating a heavyweight blockbuster down-under.

Debate around who would win the mouth-watering tussle has flared up after Sonny Bill Williams took just 115 seconds to knock out former AFL hitman Barry Hall on March 23.

The cross-code Rugby star has an undefeated record of 9-0, while Gallen lost a tough fight last year against Australian Heavyweight champion Justis Huni tarnishing his record to 12-1-1.

‘I started out fighting in 2011 and that’s when the Sonny Bill chat started,’ Gallen said.

‘I was a bit reluctant at the time and we’re still waiting for that fight to happen.’
