NFL REINSTATES All-Pro Jaguars receiver Calvin Ridley following lengthy gambling suspension, making him free to return in the new season – after last playing in October 2021
Calvin Ridley has been reinstated by the National Football League following his gambling suspension.
Ridley will now be eligible to play for the Jacksonville Jaguars, who acquired him while suspended in November.
The former Atlanta star last played on October 24, 2021 in a Week 6 Atlanta win in Miami vs. the Dolphins.
Following his reinstatement, the league released a statement, saying Ridley ‘is eligible to participate in all team activities, effective immediately.’
In a shock move, Jacksonville added Ridley to their wideout corps last year for a 2023 fifth rounder and a 2024 conditional fourth-round pick, according to Adam Schefter.

It could rise to as high as a 2024 second-rounder if the Jaguars agree a contract extension with the receiver — whose current deal expires at the end of the ’23 season.
If Ridley is merely on the Jags roster come 2024 it will be just a fourth, though a third-round pick is possible if particular incentives are met.
The NFL suspended Ridley on March 7, 2022 for betting on NFL games over a five-day period while away from the team in late 2021.
The league’s investigation did not find any evidence that the 27-year-old used insider information or that any games were compromised, nor was there any indication that Falcons coaches, staffers or players were aware of Ridley’s gambling.
Ridley did admit to betting $1,500, but claimed on Twitter that he wasn’t even watching football at the time of the alleged violation.
‘I bet 1500 total I don’t have a gambling problem,’ Ridley tweeted in March of 2022. ‘I couldn’t even watch football at that point,’ he added.
Atlanta’s 26th pick in the 2018 Draft had a fantastic 2020 season amassing 1,374 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns from 90 receptions.
