The National Television Awards are one of the most prestigious dates in the UK showbusiness calendar.
So naturally the great and good of the TV world were out to look fabulous on Thursday evening, as stars including Michelle Heaton, Maya Jama, Holly Willoughby, Lizzie Cundy, Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford took to Instagram to document their getting ready process throughout the afternoon.
Holly, 40, was leading the way as she revealed she was having her make-up from This Morning removed and freshened up while Maya, 27, was flanked by her coiffing glam squad ahead of the big night.
The 2021 National Television Awards are taking place in London’s O2 Arena, and will be hosted by comedian Joel Dommett for the first time, with the stars landing in force later in the night.
Maya was turning the camera on to her glam squad as she got ready in a swanky location while having her hair coiffed and blowdryed and dancing to music.
Holly was fresh off the This Morning set as she sat in a dressing room waiting to have her daytime TV make-up swapped for a dazzling new look – while also plugging her book in the interim.
In a selfie video, she said: ‘I am waiting for the girls to get set up next door. I need to sort out my face, this is all melting off from This Morning, so I’m gonna have it all taken off and freshened up. So while I sort myself out I’ve just been sent the print out of my book!’
In her own candid post, Michelle, 41, shared a teasing image of the back of her gown alongside an emotional caption which chronicled her recent recovery from drug and alcohol addiction.

She penned: ‘Tonight is our first red carpet event together in a very long time. I’m really nervous and full of anxiety – I would drink on those emotions. But today I am not. Today I am 134 days clean and sober and I will be with my husband, my best friend and my rock @hughhanley who gives me so much strength…
‘I’m so proud to be at the #ntas with @ok_mag flying the flag for those in recovery. For anyone who needs help with addiction, I can’t give medical advice, but I’d advise you to ask for help as it’s out there…
‘I am eternally grateful that I did. https://www.alcoholics-anonymous.org.uk is free if your problems is alcohol. If it’s something else you can find your support group on line or here https://www.nhs.uk…

New host Joel recently admitted he is ‘honoured’ to have been selected to front the spectacle. He said in a statement: ‘It’s a huge honour to be hosting the NTAs this year! It still feels like someone has made a wonderful error. I really, really love TV and can’t wait to celebrate the best stuff from what’s been a very weird year or so.’
The comedian also joked he is hoping The Masked Singer will be successful on the night so he can present himself with a prize. He quipped: ‘I’m also really hoping The Masked Singer wins something so I can present an award to myself. That’s a creative narcissist’s dream.’

NTA’s Executive Producer Kim Turberville added: ‘We are so excited to be back to celebrate a remarkable TV year like no other. There is a wealth of great television to recognise and we are delighted to have Joel at the helm.
‘With his wit and natural charisma, he’ll definitely be bringing a fresh approach to this year’s awards.’
Earlier this year, it was announced the NTAs, which usually takes place in January, had been rescheduled for September 9, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Kim said at the time: ‘The NTAs will return to The O2 London in September to mark the UK’s best, boldest and most beloved TV shows with a surprise-packed event – and we look forward to seeing you on the night for a celebration like no other.’
