A mum has revealed how she transformed the spare bedroom in her home into a stunning hair salon.

Mandy Fisher, from Queensland, was eager to start her own hairdressing business but didn’t want to work away from her one-year-old son.

As a compromise, she and her husband turned their empty bedroom space into an at-home hair clinic by purchasing products from Kmart and Bunnings Warehouse.

‘I wanted to be a mum that could work from home and also be there for my children,’ Mandy, 36, told FEMAIL.

‘Fortunately, being in a situation where we own our own property, I was able to turn our spare bedroom into a home salon.’

The budget transformation cost $3,000 to add in new flooring, wooden benchtop, mirrors, professional hairdressing chairs and a basin, as well as decorations from Kmart.

‘We put the floors and my husband made the benchtops while I was able to pick up the chairs and basin second hand,’ she said.

The material for the floor and benchtops were purchased from Bunnings Warehouse.

All the décor items, including the flower wall and pot plants, were bought from Kmart.

Mandy said turning the space into a salon for her business Flair for Hair has been the ‘best decision she’s ever made’.

‘I have met and made many beautiful customers. I couldn’t be happier,’ she said.
