Mother of college wresting superstar CRUSHES her glasses after he lost in the last second

Mother of college wresting superstar is left distraught and CRUSHES her glasses after he suffers a shock loss in the last second of NCAA DI semifinal

The mother of a star college athlete caught the attention of social media Friday night after crushing her glasses.

While watching her son, Spencer Lee, attempt to win his fourth national title at the DI Wrestling Championship, Cathy couldn’t control her emotions as Lee lost in the semifinals.

She clung on to her glasses, beginning to cry before taking them them and breaking them.

The spectacles were then thrown on to the ground before she embraced another member of the Iowa wrestling family.

Lee was pinned by Purdue’s Matt Ramos in the final second of the third period in what was a blow to the Iowa man’s already historic collegiate career.

According to the ESPN broadcast, Cathy was an alternate for the US Olympic judo team at one point in her own career.

Her son has won three national titles, in addition to two Big Ten conference championships during his time at Iowa.

Both of Lee’s parents were judo athletes, according to the Iowa Hawkeyes Wrestling Club.

The crushing result brought an end to Lee’s collegiate career at Iowa. Lee was heavily recruited by his home state school, Penn State, before ultimately choosing the Hawkeyes.

Lee hails for Murrysville, Pennsylvania — approximately two hours from Penn State.

Prior to the loss, Lee held the nation’s longest win streak at 58 matches.
