Michael J. Fox, Cher, Viola Davis and Jeff Bridges take the stage during the Governors Awards in LA


Michael J. Fox planted a sweet kiss on his wife Tracy Pollan while accepting the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the 13th annual Governors Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday. 

The now retired actor, 61 – who has never received an Academy Award nomination – received the honorary Oscar for his work in creating the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

Other famous faces taking the stage at the star-studded event included Cher, who awarded singer Diane Warren with an honorary Oscar, as well as Viola Davis and Jeff Bridges.

The event celebrates awards granted by the Academy’s Board of Governors – the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award, the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award and the Honorary Award.

This year’s honorary Oscars went go to directors Peter Weir and Euzhan Palcy, as well as songwriter Diane Warren.

Weir is a six-time Oscar nominee, best known for Witness, Dead Poets Society, and Master and Commander.

Meanwhile Palcy made history at the 1983 Venice Film Festival when her first film, Sugar Cane Alley took the Silver Lion, as the first for a Black female director, as well as any Black director. 

Warren has received 13 Best Original Song nominations, and is now the first recipient of an honorary Oscar in the music branch.

The Back To The Future alum was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 1991, and created the Michael J. Fox Foundation to help fund further research for the disorder in 2000.

The Spin City star kept his look classic and sophisticated for the special night as an honoree.

He donned a black suit which he paired with a white dress shirt and black tie. The actor slipped into a pair of black sneakers to complete his overall ensemble.

The Emmy award-winner posed for an assortment of snaps next to his stunning wife, who was elegantly chic for the evening. The happy couple, who tied the knot in 1988, first met on set of the popular sitcom series, Family Ties.  

Tracy opted for a form-fitting, long-sleeved black sequin gown that fell down towards the ground.

The actress accessorized her look with dangly, silver earrings along with thin, rhinestone necklace. Her hair was parted in the middle and swept up into a stylish up do, allowing curled locks to border the sides of her face.

Woody was seen giving Fox a tender hug, and later laughed it up while Michael spoke to the audience. 

If I Could Turn Back Time singer Cher was seen speaking on stage during the ceremony before she awarded Warren with her prize.

Earlier in the night a number os stars hit the red carepet, inclduing Olivia Wilde, Jennifer Lawrence, and Cate Blanchett, as they brought their fashion A-game to the awards.

Recently single Wilde, 38, stepped on the red carpet for the first time since her split from Harry Styles, 28, made headlines the day prior, and was the belle of the ball in a transparent black and white lace gown, with a white tulle dress underneath.

Lawrence, 32, showed off her toned arms in a low-cut black and white dress with floral and star motifs throughout, while Blanchett, 53, stunned in a dramatic light pink tulle gown with an asymmetric black blazer.
