Michael Clarke pulled out of SAS Australia because ‘he didn’t want to talk about his divorce from ex-wife Kyly’ – as staggering amount he was offered to appear on show is revealed

Michael Clarke recently confirmed he was forced to pull out of appearing on the next season of SAS Australia due to a bad back.

But according to Woman’s Day magazine, the 40-year-old cricket star had fears he would have to speak about his divorce from his ex-wife Kyly on the show.

‘He was worried he would have to address his marriage breakdown,’ the source told the publication.

‘He’d feel uncomfortable addressing that knowing it could impact on his and Kyly’s daughter Kelsey Lee.’

It comes after New Idea magazine claimed this week he negotiated a $750,000 pay check to appear on the show.

Michael and Kyly separated in September 2019, but only revealed their split in a surprise announcement on February 12, 2020.

It is understood there was no third party involved in their break-up.

Earlier this month, Michael confirmed he was not longer taking part in SAS Australia during an interview with Sky Sports Radio.

‘I did sign up to do it Middo,’ Clarke said on the program. ‘Unfortunately I slipped a disc in my back doing the training.’

Michael went on to say he did a four-week program in preparation for the program.

‘You get a four-week program where you got to do some stuff in preparation for the show and unfortunately I did my back,’ he added.

‘I let the guys know a couple of weeks ago that I’d done my disc and then it’s just been physio every day.’
