Meagan Good’s estranged husband DeVon Franklin delved into the ‘deep pain and peace’ he felt after filing for divorce in an Instagram post from Saturday.
The 43-year-old film producer shared a somber closeup of himself with his eyes closed in which he appeared to have been crying.
In his lengthy caption, he avoided directly addressing his split from Meagan, 40, but he made it clear he was going into 2022 with a new attitude.
Sharing his feelings: Meagan Good’s estranged husband DeVon Franklin, 43, delved into the ‘deep pain and peace’ he felt after filing for divorce in an Instagram post from Saturday
‘I took this picture a few months ago, I’m not much of a crier so in a moment of deep pain and peace, I took this picture,’ Franklin explained. ‘It captures best how I feel.
‘I share this with you because it is the most honest way to start this year. I know we are starting a new year yet I don’t wish you a Happy New Year…I wish you a Happy True Year,’ he continued. ‘Why? Because just because it’s NEW doesn’t make it TRUE.’
The author explained that he often started a new year feeling as if ‘I didn’t do enough last year’ or ‘I’m not enough so I must do…more,’ but he now hoped to break his ‘addiction to the “new”‘ to work on ‘being fully committed to what’s “true.”‘
He wrote that he hoped his 1.5 million followers would have the ‘truest year of life’ by focusing on things like ‘true peace,’ ‘true happiness,’ ‘true friends,’ and ‘true joy.’
Healing: Franklin took a photo of himself crying from months earlier. He said he was focused on having a ‘happy true year’ in 2022, rather than find more ways to make himself better; seen with Good in 2019 in Hollywood
‘In our truth is where we will really meet God and from that meeting He will guide us, correct us and help us become the truest versions of ourselves,’ he claimed. ‘I’m ready for that.’
Franklin concluded his post by quoting ‘the great philosopher Wyclef [Jean]’: ‘”I’ll be gone til November” …meaning I’m taking a break from posting on social for awhile, maybe not until November but you get the point.’
He thanked his fans for their prayers and he added that he was praying for his followers to find their ‘true’ self, ‘whether old or new.’
‘Happy True Year!’ he added.
Earlier in December, The Blast reported that Franklin had filed for divorce in Los Angeles.
The actress and the motivational speaker tied the knot in 2012.
The joint statement: Meagan and DeVon posted the same picture of the two of them sitting on a golf course, looking out at the ocean, with his arm around her shoulders. They both even tagged the location as ‘Forever Love’
Splitting: Franklin filed for divorce from Meagan Good in Los Angeles earlier in December
So far, the two haven’t specified what led to their split.
On Friday, Meagan shared photos of herself in a stunning green floral print dress with long curly hair as she marked the end of 2021 and alluded to her personal difficulties.
‘2021.. You brought me the highest life changing affirming highs.. And the lowest gut wrenching soulbreaking lows .. Although I’m grieving.. ..I’m also in glorious awe and thankfulness to you God,’ she wrote. ‘They say all endings are also beginnings .. 2022, I’m choosing to be excited about what the beginning of this next act of life brings. Lord I trust you [sic].’
Just weeks ago, DeVon took to Instagram in support of his wife’s new Amazon Prime series Harlem. He shared a trailer from the show with his 1.5 million followers on the photo-sharing app.
Gushing about Good, he wrote in the caption, ‘I’m so proud of my love @Meagangood! She’s one of the most talented actors on the planet AND she’s funnier than you may know but I’m so glad you finally get a chance to see her do it all as Camille Parks in the new Amazon show #Harlem @Harlemonprime!!’
Meagan even appeared in the comments to say: ‘My Loooove .. thank you. Heart’ah’smilin. Love you!’
