Married At First Sight bride breaks down as she reveals secret heartbreak after high school sweetheart was killed before her mother’s tragic death

A Married At First Sight bride has revealed the secret heartache that left her closed off to finding love. 

Cassandra Allen admitted during Monday’s debut episode of the 2024 season that she was set to wed her high school sweetheart when he was tragically killed. 

‘We were together for eight years. And then, one day, he was gone. Motorbike accident,’ she said, becoming tearful. 

‘That was really, really insanely hard… you spend every day with someone…’ she trailed off, breaking down. 

The couple had been together since the age of 14 and planned a future together, with Cass calling him ‘The One’.

‘We would have definitely married, had kids, silly matching shirts, vacations, he was… yeah,’ she wept. 

‘I was blocked for almost three or four years after that. I was in a very dark space for a long time, I couldn’t feel anything. 

‘But I know I am so ready. I am ready to receive love, to give love, to be in love. It has taken a long time but I am there.’

Further tragedy struck in 2020 when Cassandra lost her mother to cancer.

‘Mum had this big light, this big light. I know that she is definitely with me today,’ she said, sobbing, adding that her father has been her rock through it all. 

‘I love my dad. I was in a very dark space for a long time and he was with me,’ Cassandra said. 

The admin officer from Queensland earlier revealed that as she approaches her 30s, she yearns to meet someone equally as family-oriented and loving as she is to build a life and raise a ‘small football team’ of kids together.

With a huge, supportive family originating from Tanzania, Cassandra has said that she has an open mind and a huge heart with a lot of love to give to someone kind with a beautiful smile.

She has been paired with groom Tristan Black, 30, an event manager from New South Wales, who she called ‘warm and funny’ on their wedding day.
