Mark Wright jokes ‘his dreams are shattered’ as wife Michelle Keegan is tipped to be the next Bond girl

Mark Wright hilariously joked that ‘he will fight’ wife Michelle Keegan for the next role in the Bond movie – after she was tipped to take the female lead.

The former TOWIE star, 37, quipped that his ‘dreams would be shattered’ if Michelle, 36, appeared in the movie before he had a chance too.

During his Heart FM radio stint, the presenter spoke highly of his beloved wife Michelle, claiming she remains ‘so humble’ despite her hugely successful acting career.

He said: ‘She’s such a down to earth girl, never forgotten her roots. If she’s the next Bond girl, it would be totally weird if I’m bond. Maybe I’ll fight her for it. That is my dream shattered of being the next Bond himself.’

‘When she sits there and reads news that she is in the running to be the next Bond Girl, she’s like “Nah, no chance. I’m not having it”.

‘But then when you think about it, why not! They’ve put her in the mix with Jodie Comer, who also could be running for it as well, and in the past we’ve had Rosamund Pike, Monica Bellucci, Halle Berry, just imagine if Michelle is the next Bond Girl!’

He added: ‘I don’t know if you get like this at work, you do something really good but you don’t realise that and your just modest and that’s what’s so good about the fact that she is like that, humble. And I absolutely love that, imagine that.’

Following the hit success after staring in Netflix’s Fool Me Once, Michelle is in the limelight to take the female lead in the next Bond movie.

Battling it out alongside Jodie Comer and Saoirse Ronan, the trio have been given the seal of approval by gambling experts to take on the huge part.

Fans also gave their approval for Michelle as the next Bond girl, with some flooding Heart FM’s Instagram comments after Mark gave his thoughts.

Some wrote: ‘She would make a great bond girl. Her looks alone could kill x’

‘I thinks she totally could be and one id actually watch especially if she kept her northern accent.’

‘Yes, a very good Baddie Bond Girl’.

He said: 'If she's the next Bond girl, it would be totally weird if I'm bond. Maybe I'll fight her for it. That is my dream shattered of being the next Bond himself.'

‘She’d be absolutely amazing as a Bond Girl.’

Halle Berry, Gemma Arteton and Ursula Andress have previously taken on the role as Bond girls.

Jodie, 30, is known for starring in the hit BBC spy thriller Killing Eve, while Irish actress Saoirse, 29, received an Oscar nomination for starring in the movie Atonement.

According to the Daily Express, betting expert James Leyfield from Gambling.com, explained: ‘Jodie Comer is the 6/4 favourite on specials betting sites to be the next female lead in a Bond movie.

‘Michelle, who is 5/2 to be the next Bond Girl, started out in soaps, starring as barmaid Tina McIntyre in Coronation Street for six years.’

Meanwhile, according to the Irish Mirror, Saoirse got the odds of 5/1 to bag the next Bond role as the female lead.

Gambling.com previously told MailOnline: ‘Michelle Keegan has recently announced herself on the world stage in Netflix’s Fool Me Once, in a starring role as grieving mother Maya Stern, who spends the series on a solo mission to investigate her husband’s death after appearing to see him on her nanny cam when he was presumed dead.

‘That means she already knows how to perfect a martini – shaken, not stirred – but more than that, she could be an ideal MI6 colleague for Bond.’

The expert added: ‘Jodie Comer is the 6/4 favourite on specials betting sites to be the next female lead in a Bond movie.

‘The actress has had the perfect training ground in hit BBC spy thriller Killing Eve, for which she landed a Primetime Emmy Award for her superb portrayal of sociopathic assassin Villanelle.

‘She could be an ideal Bond Girl, but could be just as effective as the main villain in the next Bond movie.

‘The British actress cut her teeth in the likes of medical dramas Casualty and Holby City, as well as school drama Waterloo Road, before getting her big break as Villanelle.’

Listen to Mark Wright on Saturdays 4pm – 7pm across the UK and on Global Player.
