Man United goalkeeper Dean Henderson’s £20m move to Crystal Palace will be confirmed TODAY with five-year contract agreed – ending his mixed spell at Old Trafford
Dean Henderson’s move to Crystal Palace from Manchester United in a deal worth £20million will be officially confirmed today.
The goalkeeper has signed a five-year contract and completed the formalities of the move yesterday. An announcement from both clubs is now imminent.
Henderson, who spent 12 years at Old Trafford and briefly challenged David de Gea as the club’s No 1, will net United £15m up front and £5m in add-ons.
As reported by Mail Sport earlier this week, United will also hold a sell-on clause.
He is expected to become Palace’s first-choice stopper under Roy Hodgson, with Sam Johnstone his main rival for the position after Vicente Guaita was frozen out.
United, meanwhile, will next seal their swoop for Fenerbahce’s Altay Bayinder for £4.3m to provide a deputy for Andre Onana, another summer signing.
Despite his first-team duties at United this season, Henderson was permitted to undergo his medical and the move progressed quickly through the final stages.
Indeed, shortly after United’s dramatic 3-2 victory against Nottingham Forest, in which Henderson was named on the bench, the goalkeeper travelled to London.
The 26-year-old spent last season on loan at Forest and kept six clean sheets in 19 Premier League appearances before sustaining a thigh injury.
Forest held talks with United over a loan move with an obligation to buy at the end of the campaign, but Henderson eventually returned to United.
More to follow.
