Man in his 40s dies after early morning hit and run in Melbourne – as police urge witnesses to come forward

Police are investigating a fatal hit and run crash in Melbourne’s north.

Detectives said a vehicle hit a man on Sydney Road in Fawkner in the early hours of Saturday, leaving him lying on the road after the driver failed to stop.

The man, who died at the scene, has yet to be identified and was believed to be in his 40s.

Police are urging anyone with information about a fatal hit-and-run crash in north Melbourne that killed a man in his 40s to come forward

Officers were called at about 1.40am.

Anyone with information or dash cam footage is asked to come forward.
