Popular Netflix show confirms it’s returning for a third series – months after tragic death of show’s star
Hit show Lupin is returning for a third season two years after the series’ last installment.
The French crime drama became an international hit when it launched in January 2021, with part two dropping five months later.
Netflix have now announced that part three will be released on October 5, sharing the news on their official Twitter account.
Tragically, show star Adama Niane died in January at the age of 56. It is not known if he got to see the final cut before his death.
The French actor was best known for his role as assassin and ex-convict Leonard Kone in Lupin.

Adama’s Lupin co-star Omar Sy led tributes to the star on Twitter, describing the actor as ‘man of rare benevolence’.
He wrote: ‘I extend my deep condolences to the loved ones of Adama Niane, an immense actor alongside whom I had the chance and the pleasure of playing.
‘A man of rare benevolence… May his soul rest in peace.’
Lupin became the first French series to land on Netflix’s Top 10 list, ranking No. 1 in the likes of Brazil, Vietnam, Argentina, Germany, Italy, Spain and Poland to name just a few.
The drama stars Omar in the lead role as Assane Diop – someone who lives life inspired by thief Arsène Lupin, of the LeBlanc novels.
The concept has been developed across various other film and TV formats over the years, including an animated series.
Production on Lupin part three was disrupted last year when 20 masked men robbed the set.
These brazen criminals made off with an estimated 300,00 Euros ($330,000) worth of equipment, which lead to a brief production shut-down.

The thieves broke onto the set after launching mortar fireworks in the area, though a Netflix statement confirmed no one was harmed in the incident.
‘There was an incident on Feb. 25 while filming the upcoming season of Lupin. Our cast and crew are safe and there were no injuries,’ the statement read.
Filming was shut down for a few days on the Netflix series.
Authorities in Nanterre have launched an investigation into the robbery, though it wasn’t specified what was stolen during the incident.
