Liverpool were handed a fresh injury scare as Sadio Mane limped off during Senegal’s clash against Togo.

Mane was seen sitting on the turf unable to continue with the game, in what would have been concerning images for Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds are already without Roberto Firmino, who is expected to miss over a month with a hamstring injury.

Senegal’s coach and former Paris Saint-Germain and Birmingham City midfielder has offered some cause for relief however.

He said after the game: ‘Yes, the exit of Sadio Mane destabilised us, he is an important player for the team.

‘We took him off as a precaution and there is nothing serious.’

Klopp will be hoping that is indeed the case and that Mane won’t miss any game-time for Liverpool, after the worrying scenes during Senegal’s 1-1 draw with Togo.

The Reds have a jam-packed schedule coming up after the international break.

They will hope to bounce back from their first defeat of the season to West Ham, when they play Arsenal at Anfield next weekend.

They are currently without a number of key players with Firmino, Curtis Jones, James Milner, Naby Keita and Harvey Elliott missing recent games.
