Liverpool’s pre-season preparations took a major hit when summer signing Alexis Mac Allister hobbled off the pitch at half-time of their friendly against Bayern Munich.
Moments before the half-time whistle, with the scores locked at 2-2, Mac Allister went down in discomfort, as Andy Robertson called for the physio.
Replays showed it was a bang of the knee for the Argentine with Bayern’s Konrad Laimer. The fact he walked off will have been welcomed by concerned supporters.
The World Cup winner was helped back to his feet but hobbled off and boss Jurgen Klopp was able to take no further risks by making a number of changes at the break.
Ibrahima Konate, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez came on for Joel Matip, Mac Allister and Diogo Jota.

It had all been looking so positive for Liverpool, who went ahead after two minutes through Cody Gakpo.
Things improved further when Virgil van Dijk, newly installed as permanent captain, made it 2-0 inside the first half hour.
But Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern responded well, halving the deficit, first through Serge Gnarby and then through Leroy Sane.
The changes at half-time saw Gakpo slot into a midfield role, replacing Mac Allister, with Nunez up top leading the attack.
