Kyle Sandilands sets the record straight about his KIIS FM radio show being broadcast in Melbourne next year – and why he will NEVER talk about AFL
KIIS FM radio star Kyle Sandilands has confirmed his top-rated Kyle and Jackie O Show will not be broadcast in Melbourne, after rumours swirled the show would be syndicated to the neighbouring city.
Kyle was questioned about the speculation by The Project’s Sarah Harris on Monday.
The 52-year-old said it wasn’t happening, but he did say it would be extremely profitable.
‘I think we would do pretty well there. We already have hundreds of thousands of listeners there. We can monitor via the iHeart Radio app,’ he explained.
The Kyle and Jackie O show currently has a 20 per cent market share, and he noted it is the most popular radio show ever to be broadcast in Australia.

‘A lot of people don’t realise. This radio show is the most listened to radio show in the history of radio shows in this country. Ever,’ he said.
Kyle added that the network would save money by having one big show.
‘It doesn’t take a genius to realise how much money you would save if we just had the one big show everywhere,’ he said.
Kyle joked that if he were ever to have a show in Melbourne, he wouldn’t be caught dead discussing the AFL on the program.
Kyle did admit it would be profitable to expand into Melbourne, saying: ‘It doesn’t take a genius to realise how much money you would save if we just had the one big show everywhere’
‘If we do broadcast in Melbourne you’ll never hear sh*t about AFL, because we don’t do sport. We don’t care about sport,’ he said.
Rumours swirled about Kyle and Jackie O being broadcast in Melbourne after they were sparked by Brendan Fevola earlier this month.
Fevola claimed a source told him, ‘You might have competition next year. Someone in our city is now gonna be in Melbourne. ‘Kyle and Jackie!’

Syndication of The Kyle and Jackie O Show in Melbourne would see Jase & Lauren scrapped.
The rumours came after Kyle hinted he will be leaving KIIS FM after nine years to move to rival network 2Day FM.
He told co-host Jackie O, 48, he was asked about the rumours by paparazzi as he returned to Sydney from his European honeymoon.

Kyle hinted that he was open to a potential move if he was presented with an attractive offer, asking Jackie, ‘What’s my motto?’
‘Where there’s a till, there’s a way,’ she responded.
Kyle confirmed she was correct and joked that was Jackie’s motto as well.
According to the Australian Financial Review, the duo’s old network SCA had been ‘pretty aggressive’ in pursuing the pair as their current deal with KIIS FM and ARN comes to an end in 2024.
‘This is like sports rights for radio. It’s very likely it’ll end up being the biggest talent media deal ever,’ a network insider said.
