Katy Perry and Lionel Richie will be temporarily replaced by ‘big time’ guest judges on American Idol, according to Luke Bryan.

The 46-year-old country singer, who also serves as a judge on the long-running program, previously spoke to Entertainment Tonight during the Stagecoach Festival on Saturday to promote the upcoming appearance of the guest performers.

The California Gurls singer, who recently attracted controversy for ‘mom-shaming’ an American Idol contestant, and Richie are set to perform at The Coronation Concert of King Charles III.

When Bryan was asked to give fans a bit of information about the guest judges, the singer remained tight-lipped.

The singer-songwriter stated: ‘It’s big time. It’s big time, but I cannot tease.’

The television personality did, however, express that the guest judges’ influence was felt by several of the program’s contestants.

He stated: ‘The people that we have filling in, contestants have used their songs many, many times. A lot more than mine!’

When Bryan was pressed for further information, he quipped: ‘I’m already lucky to keep being a part of this show, you’re not getting me kicked off.’

Perry and Richie were revealed to have been added to the lineup of The Coronation Concert earlier this month.

Artists such as Andrea Bocelli and Take That are also scheduled to perform during the event.

Thousands of guests are expected to attend King Charles’ coronation, including First Lady Jill Biden, who will serve as a representative of the United States.

The Dark Horse singer, 38, previously spoke to Entertainment Tonight regarding her appearance at The Coronation Concert and joked that a ‘hologram’ was developed to fill in for her on American Idol.

The hitmaker went on to speak about her connection to King Charles, with whom she has worked on various charitable efforts.
