Julie Burgess draped in diamonds and pearls at son Tom’s wedding

Stealing the show! Julie Burgess shows off her VERY expensive taste as she drapes herself in diamonds and pearls along with a Cartier watch at son Tom’s wedding to Tahlia Giumelli

Julie Burgess was hard to miss at her son Tom’s wedding to model Tahlia Giumelli in Sydney on Friday.

The Burgess matriarch draped herself in thousands of dollars worth of diamonds and pearls for the nuptials, and even added some extra bling with a Cartier watch.

It’s unclear how much the timepiece cost exactly, but it’s estimated to be around the $5000 mark.

She accessorised with a chunky pearl necklace and matching earrings, a platinum bangle, two rings, and a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses.

Julie, who works in the private school sector as an educator, stunned in an ankle-length mint frock that clung to her slim figure and carried a cream handbag in one hand.

Her glamorous display was a far cry from bride Tahlia, who kept things simple and elegant in a sleeveless wedding dress without any bells and whistles.

Tahlia and Tom, both 29, tied the knot in a stunning star-studded ceremony in a waterfront park in Sydney’s Watsons Bay on Friday.

Julie has firmly stood by her famous sons throughout their many ups and downs over the years.

In 2007, the boys’ father Mark died after a two-year battle with motor neurone disease.

Mrs Burgess previously revealed that the boys have been close since they were children, with a shared passion for rugby league driving much of their decision making as young men.

But raising four boys under the age of five in the north of England wasn’t easy, and money was often tight.

She made do with what she could, and always made sure the boys were smartly dressed.

‘I loved to dress the boys in the same outfits, especially the twins,’ she revealed, before adding that she would often dress Sam and Luke in matching outfits to hand down to the twins.

‘The twins had to endure lots of ”hand me downs” from their older brothers! I’m not sure if they really liked me dressing them the same way, but they always looked super cute in my eyes.’

Once the boys grew up and relocated to Australia to pursue their Rugby careers, Julie ditched her home in West Yorkshire and followed them Down Under.

She now works as the Head of Languages at The Scots College.
