Jonny Bairstow propelled England to victory with one of the all-time great Test centuries against New Zealand at Trent Bridge.

Bairstow brought up three figures from just 77 balls in a swashbuckling innings. Captain Ben Stokes, who appeared to injure his left knee, played through the pain barrier and contributed with a magnificent half century.

Bairstow eventually edged behind off Trent Boult for 136 off 92 balls. 

It was Stokes who hit the winning runs, crashing the ball to the cover point boundary to finish unbeaten on 75 as England won by five wickets. Ben Foakes was alongside him, unbeaten on 12.

England reeled off 160 runs from just 16 overs after tea to clinch their win in the most incredible fashion.

It means they have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series, ensuring the Stokes-Brendon McCullum era starts with victory for England.
