Jesy Nelson’s debut album ‘is delayed by unimpressed bosses’

Jesy Nelson’s debut solo album ‘is delayed as early versions of record leave label bosses unimpressed’

Jesy Nelson’s debut album has reportedly been delayed after record executives were left unimpressed with some early versions of her songs.

The singer, 30, departed Little Mix in 2020 and released her debut solo single Boyz with Nicki Minaj in October last year, but has not produced another song since.

According to The Sun, Jesy was told by record label bosses to ‘go back to the drawing board’ when they heard some of the music she has been working on.

Pushed back: Jesy Nelson’s debut album has reportedly been delayed after record executives were left unimpressed with some early versions of her songs

A source said: ‘Jesy has worked incredibly hard on her solo music. After releasing Boyz last year, she let the label hear early versions of the songs she had come up with.

‘The bosses felt sure there was potential there but they wanted her to go back to the drawing board. They felt the tracks would benefit from it — so that is what she has done.

‘She is determined to only play them the new music when it’s perfect, so they haven’t heard any more since then.’

The insider added that there are ‘high hopes’ for Jesy’s album when it’s completed.

MailOnline has contacted representatives of Jesy Nelson for comment.

It comes after Jesy returned to the UK after working on her debut solo album in Los Angeles, breaking down during a late night recording session.

The singer was overcome with emotion as she listened back to a track, telling her Instagram followers it ‘got me in the feels’.

And Jesy flew back to London on the same day her former band Little Mix wrapped up their last tour together.

At their farewell concert, Jesy’s ex bandmates Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall all broke down in tears as they reflected on their decade together.

But Jesy but was noticeably absent from the emotional montages and speeches – following her December 2020 exit from the group.

Jesy announced that she was leaving the band when she shared a lengthy statement on Instagram stating she was stepping back to protect her mental health.

The singer has since been accused of causing a rift with her Little Mix bandmates after quitting the group without speaking to them directly first.

A source revealed that the move came as a complete shock to her bandmates who heard about the decision through lawyers.
