‘Its been an absolute disaster of an evening for Spurs’: Jermaine Jenas SLAMS his former side after they crashed out of the Champions League with a lacklustre performance against AC Milan

Jermaine Jenas was heavily critical of Tottenham after they were knocked out of the Champions League by AC Milan.

Spurs could only manage  0-0 draw in North London after a lethargic performance, and are out of the tournament on aggregate after losing the first leg 1-0.

Jenas did not hold back, as he told BT Sport: ‘It’s been an absolute disaster of an evening for Spurs. They’ve been all over the place collectively.

‘Individually they’ve not been able to put performances together. Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong. I’ve seen a lot of performances at football clubs that look like the end, this is one of them.’

The result caps off a tough few days for Spurs, after they were knocked out of the FA Cup by Sheffield United last Wednesday and lost to wolves in the league at the weekend.

Glen Hoddle was similarly critical of Tottenham, as he added: ‘This squad isn’t good enough. There was no energy, there was no creativity.

‘Collectively they weren’t at it tonight, it was very disappointing. There just wasn’t enough ability out there. Tottenham get outnumbered in midfield, and that two can’t press against a three or a four.

‘This midfield is the problem for me. They can’t press, because there’s big holes behind them. It’s a real problem. Too often they go backwards for nothing. They give teams time to get organised to press them.’
