Jayne Torvill turns heads in a green ruffled jumpsuit as she joins skate partner Christopher Dean at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards

Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean dressed to impress as they attended the BBC Sports Personality of the Year in Manchester on Tuesday.

The Dancing On Ice legends seemed in high spirits as they posed together at the star-studded event held at Media City in Salford.

Jayne, 66, looked incredible in a sleeveless green jumpsuit which she cinched in at the waist with a matching belt.

She added a pair of coordinated buckled shoes and toted her belongings around in a black handbag.

Jayne completed her ensemble with gold jewellery and styled her long tresses in waves while pal Chris, 65, cut a dapper figure in a burgundy and black striped suit.

It comes after the pair skated together for the first time in eight months as they prepared for an appearance on Emmerdale

Jayne and Chris first skated together in 1975 and went on to win a gold medal at the 1984 Winter Olympics.

Jayne explained that due to rupturing a bicep tendon while rehearsing with Chris they haven’t skated together in eight months.

The winner of the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award is set to be revealed this evening.

Mary Earps is the frontrunner to be crowned BBC Sports Personality of the Year after being named on the six-person shortlist.

The England goalkeeper, 30, is the odds-on bookies’ favourite to become the second straight Lioness to land the coveted award following Beth Mead’s triumph last year.

Known as Mary Queen of Stops, the footballer faces competition from Ashes hero Stuart Broad and world heptathlon champion Katarina Johnson-Thompson.

Veteran jockey Frankie Dettori, Europe’s Ryder Cup talisman Rory McIlroy and wheelchair tennis No1 Alfie Hewett are also nominated for the prestigious award.

The sportsperson who tops the public vote tonight will become the 70th winner of SPOTY.
