British social media users were delighted today after golfing legend Jack Nicklaus revealed the name of his granddaughter’s new husband, Todger Strunk.

The 80-year-old, who is based in North Palm Beach, Florida offered his congratulations to newlyweds Christie and Todger in a heartfelt post on Twitter yesterday.

However, social media users were quick to point out the unfortunate connotations of Mr Strunk’s first name in the UK.

Sharing photos of the happy couple, Nicklaus said: ‘My oldest granddaughter Christie Nicklaus – my son Jack’s second oldest child – just married Todger Strunk.

‘What a beautiful wedding and an even more beautiful couple! They look like they were made for each other.

‘Barbara and I wish them happiness and love for an eternity!’ 

In response, Nicklaus was flooded with people posting online dictionary definitions of the word todger, which is a British slang word for male genitalia.

Many others also poked fun at the unusual moniker. 

Todger Strunk is either the worst name I’ve ever heard. Or the greatest,’ said one.

‘Seriously. Todger? Who names their son Todger! Please say it’s a typo,’ added another.

According to the couple’s wedding website, the newlyweds tied the knot in North Palm Beach, Florida.

The couple met three years ago at a golf tournament with Aethos Investment Management president Todger popping the question two years later during a mountain hike in Cordillera, Colorado.

Christie’s grandfather Jack, nicknamed The Golden Eagle, is widely regarded as one of the best golfers of all time.

He was inducted into the Golf World Hall of Fame in 1974 and awarded the PGA Tour Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008.
