The Voice has apparently axed a second coach in the wake of Olly Murs’ scathing attack on the singing show after his own exit was confirmed.
ITV have reportedly cut ties with Anne-Marie from the spinning red chairs ahead of the 2024 series to give the show a ‘refresh.’
The Essex beauty joined Olly, Tom Jones, and will.i.am on the show in 2021 and appeared to go down well viewers.
However, it has now been claimed bosses want to bring in new stars from the industry to appeal to a younger audience.
A source told the The Sun: ‘Anne-Marie has loved being part of the show but producers want to give the series a refresh.
Shock: ITV have reportedly axed Anne-Marie from The Voice UK ahead of the 2024 series to give the show a ‘refresh’ following Olly Murs departure
Facts: When approached by MailOnline, ITV did not deny Anne-Marie had been axed from The Voice
‘ITV wants to ensure that the show pulls in teens, so they are always looking at who is hot in the music world.’
When approached by MailOnline, ITV did not deny Anne-Marie had been axed from The Voice.
A spokesperson simply said: ‘The Voice UK returns to ITV1 and ITVX for a brand new series on Saturday 4th November at 8:25 pm featuring coaches will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones, Anne-Marie and Olly Murs. Details of the 2024 series will be confirmed in due course.’ MailOnline have contacted Anne-Marie’s reps.
The shock dumping comes after Olly, 39, hit out at The Voice after being dropped admitting he was ‘gutted.’
He said: ‘I got the call last week to say I won’t be back on the show, and it’s a bit of a shock, to be honest. I didn’t really expect that to come.’
Opening up about the decision, he continued: ‘But I don’t want to sit here like other artists might, and shine and gloss this up and say, “It was my decision.” I don’t want to do that.
‘I don’t want to bulls**t my fans or bulls**t people who watch the show, and say, ‘Oh, it was an amicable decision to leave — I’ve got lots of things on next year, I can’t do it any more. No.’
Ouch: Despite being popular amongst viewers, it has been claimed bosses want to bring in ‘hotter’ stars from the industry to appeal to a younger audience
Line up: The beauty joined Olly Murs, Tom Jones and will.i.am on the show in 2021 and with it kicking off again next month, both parties need to attend the launch of the new series
New replacement: Olly could be replacing Rita Ora, 32, on The Masked Singer who is reportedly taking a step back from the show
Olly’s axing comes six years after he joined the show and will still have to join the launch of the new series next month.
But it looks like Olly won’t be off telly screens for long as he could be replacing Rita Ora, 32, on The Masked Singer who is reportedly taking a step back from the show.
The singer who shot to fame in 2009 on The X Factor, would be joining Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross and comedian Mo Gilligan on the next series.
