Inside David and Candice Warner’s palatial seven-storey clifftop mansion complete with a ‘bat cave’, lap pool and private beach – after the cricketer announced his semi-retirement

David and Candice Warner are enjoying the batter’s retirement from Test cricket in their palatial seaside mansion in Maroubra.

After snapping up the property in 2015 for $3.9million, the Warner family knocked down the existing house for a complete rebuild – and the end results are nothing short of stunning.

The ocean-view property boasts an incredible seven floors, and features a ‘bat cave’ to house David’s sporting memorabilia and huge bat collection, a private beach and epic clifftop views.

‘[David and Candice] stay at the finest hotels in the world and were keen to evoke that same sense of luxury and sophistication here,’ Interior designer Alexandra Kidd told The Australian.

‘But at the same time, it’s also a beach house, and we wanted them to feel comfortable enough to walk in from the beach, toss off their shoes and really relax.’

The master bedroom suite is luxurious, with Japanese-designed wallpaper and plush silk carpet.

It also features a wellness centre that includes a gym, sauna, and steam shower.

The couple’s three children – daughters Ivy Mae, Indi Rae and Isla Rose – were also factored into the design of the home.

‘A lot of the consideration for the children is outside; they are a very active, sporty family,’ Kidd told the publication.

To keep the kids occupied, the outdoor space comes complete with activity spaces, hanging chairs, inbuilt trampolines and soft lawn areas for gymnastics and more.

It comes after, Candice shared an insight into what her husband’s new career may look like after he announced his semi-retirement from Test cricket last week.

Warner made a match-winning 57 runs in his final innings to help Australia secure victory at the SCG and wrap up a 3-0 series win over Pakistan to give him the perfect farewell from red-ball cricket.

A staple presence at the top of the order for his country, Warner has scored huge totals throughout his illustrious career, leading to debate over his place among Australia’s all-time greatest cricketers.

However, his record has been called into question, with Warner performing far better on home soil compared to his overseas record. England bowler Stuart Broad has long tormented the opener with his wicked deliveries during their Ashes battles.

Warner’s role in the infamous sandpaper scandal of 2018 has also led to scrutiny of his legacy. Former teammate Mitchell Johnson bashed Cricket Australia for allowing Warner his swansong given his contribution to the darkest day in the nation’s sporting history.

But Candice praised David’s ‘resilience’ and said she was ‘not so sad’ about him leaving the sport.

As to what David plans to do next, she said the couple’s family will take priority and that will be ‘magic’ for them.

‘The next six months actually aren’t going to look too dissimilar to what we’re used to,’ she told The Daily Telegraph.

She explained ‘David will be able to take the girls to cricket, take the girls to soccer on a Sunday’ and pick them up from school.
