But now ITV bosses are said to be in crisis talks with Nigel Farage’s team after he raised concerns about the show’s cigarette ban.
In an attempt to keep the former politician, 59, interested, producers are reportedly considering changing this rule for him.
Speaking on the Paper Cuts podcast, political journalist Ava Evans said: ‘Would you like some insider knowledge of why Nigel Farage was considering not doing it? It is the smoking ban. You can’t smoke and he is a very heavy smoker.’
‘Will they let him smoke at the back?’ host Miranda Sawyer asked.

‘I think that’s being negotiated,’ Ava replied. ‘That was a discussion that Chris Moyles also had last year because he is also a very heavy smoker.’

I’m A Celebrity contestants face rigorous packing guidelines when they enter the jungle and are not allowed clocks, snacks, cosmetics, books, or writing materials in a bid to intensify competition and boost campmate interaction.
Cigarettes apparently also fall under this category, although ITV have claimed that there is no smoking ban and that stars with a smoking habit should light up at designated areas only.
In 2018 they told The Sun: ‘Celebrities who smoke are allowed to smoke in camp. They have to smoke near the campfire and then put stubs out in the fire.’
During the discussion on the pod, Ava added: ‘Controversial opinion, I think Farage will come off quite well in this. There’s a reason why he was able to gather swathes of the population and convince them to leave the European Union.’
She went on to say how she used to work with him on a radio show and that he was ‘the most polite person’.
Georgia Toffolo – known best as Toff – won I’m a Celebrity in 2017 and is said to be personally managing negotiations between ITV and Nigel.
She is known to be friends with the party leader and dated his former aide, the financier George Cottrell – known as ‘Posh George’.

An ITV insider said: ‘It was certainly a first, a former I’m A Celeb winner brokering a deal for another contestant.
‘Nigel has been offered the chance to go to the jungle several times but Toff has made it happen this time. Everyone involved in the deal is thrilled.
‘It is most definitely a goodie.’
