The World No. 1 breezed through to the second round with a 6-0, 6-1 win on her return to Arthur Ashe Stadium, needing just 25 minutes to take the first set.
The 22-year-old continued blazing her way through the first-round match with Peterson, ranked 86th, winning just one game.
