Hunter Biden sells more paintings for up to $225,000 to anonymous buyers

Hunter Biden debuted his latest solo exhibition where paintings sold for up to $225,000 to anonymous buyers despite ethics concerns.

The president’s embattled son attended the gallery opening on Thursday night in Manhattan for his Haiku series, which featured paintings of colorful flower and tree-like designs.

SoHo gallery owner Geroge Berges, Hunter’s art dealer, told The Daily Beast that the new art pieces range in price from $55,000 to $225,000.

While Biden appeared to revel in his latest exhibit, it once again raises ethics concerns that the sales are vulnerable to people wishing to influence his father, President Joe Biden.

It also comes amid an ongoing investigation into Hunter’s finances and allegations of illegal business dealing in China and Ukraine that remain in the public eye as Twitter answers why it suppressed the story about his laptop leak.

While the gallery served as a moment of respite for the president's troubled son, it once again raised concerns that buyers were making overly generous offers to the fledgling artist in hopes of cozying up to his father. Pictured: Hunter at the gallery's opening night

In an effort to prevent any ethical breaches, White House officials have said they put measures in place to shield information about how much Hunter’s work was selling for and to whom.

Berges said the latest paintings were a form of self-reflection for the president’s son as he’s marred by controversy over his laptop and finances.

‘I think this series is meditative and contemplative, and I think it’s reflective of how he is at the moment,’ Berges added.

During his previous gallery last year, Biden told Artnet: ‘I don’t paint from emotion or feeling, which I think are both very ephemeral.

‘For me, painting is much more about kind of trying to bring forth what is, I think, the universal truth…the universal truth is that everything is connected and that there’s something that goes far beyond what is our five senses and that connects us all.’

Berges added that the new paintings all have haikus on the back, hence the name of the gallery.

One such haiku Berges shared was:

Atoms bloom in my chest

All the room is filled it is full

I can see all the colors

It appeared to break away from the standard 5-7-5 syllable structure of a typical haiku.

Although the art show served as a reprieve of sorts for the troubled Hunter, it still lingers on questions many former White House ethics chiefs have raised regarding such a gallery.

Art critics have said pieces by an untrained and debuting artist like Hunter do not usually fetch such high prices, and believe that his last name is significantly inflating their price.

During a similar gallery last year, two former White House ethics chiefs warned buyers could try to curry influence with the president by buying his son’s work for inflated sums.

‘I just think that’s absolutely appalling,’ Obama White House ethics chief Walter Shaub told Law & Crime’s ‘Objections’ podcast in August.

Richard Painter, George W. Bush’s ethics’ chief, told Fox: ‘It’s going to be very clear with people in the know as to who buys Hunter Biden’s art.

‘The question is, are the American people going to know? The White House should insist on complete transparency.’

The White House did not immediately respond to DailyMail.com’s request for comment.

Questions about the art gallery are not the only ones the White House is currently facing regarding the president’s son.

The White House again insisted President Biden had no involvement in Twitter’s decisions to censor conservative voices or suppress stories on his son’s laptop on Friday, less than 24 hours after Musk dropped his second batch of files.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre also denied that the administration had any direct contact with former FBI agent and Twitter general counsel Jim Baker over the moderation of stories.

Earlier this week Musk fired Baker, who was serving as a top Twitter lawyer, over his ‘possible’ role in suppressing the Hunter Biden story in October 2020.

The story was published less than three weeks before the 2020 election. Other news organizations were initially unable to verify its allegations that Hunter Biden introduced his father to a senior figure at a Ukrainian energy company.

During her daily briefing Friday press secretary Jean-Pierre was asked whether the Biden team had made any contact with Baker regarding content moderation decisions.

‘It’s up to private companies to make these types of decisions. We were not involved, I can say that we were not involved,’ she said.

Earlier this week Jean-Pierre said it is ‘not healthy’ for Twitter to be releasing internal communications that showed Twitter suppressed the bombshell laptop reporting that showed Hunter Biden trading on his last name for cash.

It follows the release of two Twitter files over the last two weeks, including revelations published by journalist Bari Weiss on Wednesday night that executives suppressed conservative accounts even if they didn’t violate policy and certain trending topics.

The first set of Twitter Files, dropped in a thread on the social media platform by journalist Matt Taibbi, showed that the Biden campaign did ask Twitter to remove some nude photos and videos Hunter had left on his laptop that were being circulated.
