Gwyneth Paltrow jokes about ‘doing cocaine and not getting caught’ and stumbling home with ‘randos’

Gwyneth Paltrow gave some pretty wild anecdotes about doing drugs and taking random men home during an episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden.

The 50-year-old spoke about how fun it was to be famous and naughty AND get away with it before the social media age on Monday’s episode.

She laughed: ‘It was great, talk about doing cocaine and not getting caught. You could just be at a bar having fun, dance on the table.’

Good times: Gwyneth Paltrow said she loved being famous in the 90’s on Monday’s episode of The Late Late Show with James Corden on CBS

‘No camera phones,’ James said.

‘No camera phones like especially in New York, interestingly enough, there were no paparazzi,’ Gwyneth said. ‘You could stumble out of a bar and go home with some rando and no one would know.’

The 50-year-old Goop founder, wearing a black cropped halter top and skirt with a chunky gold link necklace, also shared her pregnancy cravings when she was pregnant with her daughter Apple.

‘I wanted apples, yogurt, Swiss cheese and Baskin-Robbins Jamoca Almond Fudge ice cream,’ Gwyneth said. ‘That’s all I wanted.’

Her daughter Apple was now a college freshman, she said.

‘Apple is now 18 and I have a junior in high school,’ Gwyneth said. ‘Moses is 16.’

James asked her what her favorite age was with her children.

‘I have to say I loved every single stage and every stage I felt like ‘oh I wish I could freeze time like I’m never going to love them more than this”,’ Gwyneth said. ‘And then you just love them more.’

Gwyneth also thanked James for once giving Moses a ride home.

‘We talked only about music,’ James said. ‘He got out of the car and me and Jules were like ”well he’s the coolest person I think we have ever met”.’

‘Well, he thought you were the coolest Uber driver he has ever had,’ Gwyneth jokingly said.

James asked her how she was handling being close to being an empty nester.

‘Not very well,’ Gwyneth said.

He asked her how it felt with Apple gone.

‘It’s a huge change because she’s really hilarious and she’s got a big presence,’ Gwyneth said. ‘So when we are around the dinner table and somebody says to Moses ‘what is it like with your sister not home?’ And he’s like ‘quiet.’

James had Gwyneth to talk about her new Audible series Goop Pursuits and about what inspired her to do this series.

‘At Goop, we are always trying to find interesting ways with content to reach new audiences and to kind of move culture forward and precipitate interesting conversations,’ Gwyneth said. ‘This is an audio series. It’s four parts. It’s on Audible.’

Gwyneth said that Audible has been great and that she was a big podcast listener too. Gwyneth said she still reads books but also really likes listening. She said the Goop series are 90 minute deep dives on subjects.

‘The first one is about pleasure because I think we have an interesting weird relationship with pleasure in our culture,’ Gwyneth said. ‘Especially women, we are so freaked out to have pleasure not only sexual pleasure…’

Gwyneth said she was very excited about the series which launches on Thursday.
