New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers could be close to a return to practice – and to the field – after tearing his Achilles tendon in Week 1 of the season.
Rodgers has seemed confident that he can get back to playing before the 2023 season comes to a close – and he expressed that to Chargers safety Derwin James.
After the Chargers 27-6 win over the Jets, Rodgers was overheard saying that he could be back sooner than many think.
‘When you comin’ back man?,’ James asked the multiple-MVP winner.
‘Give me a few weeks,’ Rodgers replied.
Aaron Rodgers (R) told Chargers safety Derwin James that he could return in a few weeks

The Jets have been struggling in recent weeks under backup quarterback Zach Wilson

A return to the field for Rodgers could lead to a boost in playoff hopes for the Jets
James smiled and told Rodgers, ‘You ready man, I seen you pre-game. I thought you were gonna suit up.’
Rodgers was seen walking without a boot and didn’t use the team’s cart to get around MetLife Stadium on Monday night.
His return would come at a crucial time for Gang Green – who have been struggling under quarterback Zach Wilson in recent weeks.
Wilson completed 33-of-49 passes on Monday night, but only racked up 263 yards of offense and zero touchdowns as all the Jets could manage for scoring is two field goals.
Los Angeles only managed 191 total yards of offense, but benefited from great starting field position and multiple Jets turnovers.
Rodgers’ injury to start the season was a knock to the team’s chances, but they haven’t been completely knocked out of a playoff race.
The Jets dropped to 4-4, but they’re still in range to try and make a run to the postseason if things go their way.
