Ethiopia’s Sisay Lemma wins the men’s London Marathon with a blistering time of 2:04.01 to make up for his third place finish last year

  • Sisay Lemma clinched victory in the men’s London Marathon race on Sunday
  • He crossed the line with a time of 2:04.01 finishing 27 seconds clear of second
  • The result makes up for 2020 where he finished third – four seconds off first 


Ethiopia’s Sisay Lemma won the men’s London Marathon in a time of two hours four minutes and one second after breaking away from the leading pack late in the race on Sunday.

Lemma, who finished on the podium last year, crossed the line 27 seconds ahead of Kenya’s Vincent Kipchuma with Mosinet Geremew third.

Defending champion Shura Kitata came sixth as Lemma made up for his third place finish in 2020’s race.
